Pū'ohe - Hawaiian Bamboo Trumpet

The Pū‘ohe is a Hawaiian bamboo trumpet. Has deep sound somewhat like a conch shell, and like other native instruments, pū‘ohe requires special spirit breath to produce proper sound. Used by ancient Hawaiians to beckon one another from uplands. Today it is used as an instrument to accompany chants. Approximately 12" in length.

`Ili`Ili

These smooth river rocks are used by the hula dancers to keep the rhythm as they expressed their dance. The two stones are placed in each hand, one between the thumb and pointer, and other is held by the middle, ring and baby fingers. Clap them together to make a rhythmic sound.
