Pele, the sacred living deity of Hawai'i's volcanoes, controls the limitless power of creation through her perseverance, molten strength, and unearthly beauty. Her passion emanates from her ancient existence.

Tūtū Pele Guards the Islands

Revered and honored is the fire goddess — referred to as “Madam Pele,” or “Tūtū Pele.” Also called Pele-Honua-Mea (Pele of the sacred land) and Pele-Ai-Honua (Pele, the eater of the land).

Tūtū Pele roars !!! She protects the islands from evil spirits. My header (top) photo features a sunset off O'ahu. Skies are tinted red due to Tūtū Pele's magnificient display of lava eruption from Kīlauea on Big Island.

Athena Long shares the history and folklore surrounding the captivating and beautiful goddess. Legend states Pele’s journey began in Tahiti. She then took an arduous voyage looking for a new home. Throughout the Pacific Ocean, she ran into numerous obstacles. She eventually arrived in Hawaii and proclaimed it as her domain. Her effect is strongly noticed in the majestic landscapes shaped by volcanic eruptions. Her reputation is one of strength, ardour and destruction.
